Saint Januarius Statue, 35 cm - Glass Eyes
The face, hands, and feet are sculpted in polychrome terracotta,
painted and finished by hand. The back-painted glass eyes
give the gaze depth, luminosity
and a particular expressive intensity. The figure
has an internal wire core and a body
molded in hemp, fully dressed in custom-made vestments. The rich attire consists
of a tunic, overcoat, cloak, and decorative appliques,
embellished with gold trimmings and lace inserts.
The episcopal miter, made of fabric and trimmed along the
edge with trimmings, is adorned with a hand-crafted iron crosier.
Saint Januarius holds the characteristic cruets,
containing a symbolic reproduction of the Saint's blood.
Each element has been carefully crafted to convey solemnity,
balance, and iconographic recognition to the composition.
The figure is placed on a distinctive wooden base.
A work intended for collectors, private devotion,
and fine nativity scene displays.
A unique piece, crafted and finished entirely by hand.
Made to order.
Because it is handcrafted and dressed, each piece
may exhibit slight variations in fabrics, finishes,
painting, and the arrangement of accessories.
These differences are an authentic characteristic of the
artistic workmanship and make each figure unique.
