Chestnut Seller - Occupational Figure from the 18th-Century Neapolitan Nativity Scene
A unique scenographic work inspired by 18th-century
tradition, depicting
a scene of a chestnut vendor.
The composition is conceived as a narrative micro-environment,
in which the figure, embers, work objects, and tools interact with each other,
building a credible, lively, and coherent scene.
The chestnut seller is presented as an integral part
of her workspace, according to a scenographic vision
that prioritizes the narrative over the figure alone.
The face has been entirely reinterpreted
through original hand-painted work, with glazes,
patinations, and color modulations designed to convey
expressive depth, character, and a sense of experience.
The clothing is completely handcrafted,
back-painted crystal eyes, figure height 35 cm.
Brazier and cookware crafted and assembled
with the intent of creating a unified, inseparable composition.
Chestnuts made from pre-dyed beeswax
Each individual element contributes
to the narrative power of the work.
